   POLSON - MAYOR CLAVADETSCHER
   MOTIVATES STREET LIGHT REPLACEMENT

KUDO’s to you Mayor Clavadetscher for your
time and energy on intervening in the replacement
of the street light on Main Street and 5th Avenue. I am impressed at what can be accomplished when you want to involve yourself. Also thanks to Mission Valley Power crew for putting up the pole. When it was explained that the ground had to thaw in order to replace the poles’ base, the delay made sense. Information is not only powerful but it can also be reassuring.

CITY PLANNING TO REPLACE DOWNTOWN SEWER PIPES (MISSOULA)

Three years ago last month I stepped over the line with the then Polson City administration by advocating that the downtown infrastructure be repaired for the benefit of the citizens of our community. The present city administration will move to repair the downtown infrastructure if an overwhelming number of property owners will agree to the repair of Main Street. They must also agree to another SID to pay for most of the remodel. This approach has been kicked around for the last ten years already. The pipes in Main Street are well beyond their useful life and break in several areas every winter. While I understand that capital improvement projects are a drain on the city coffers. That’s why property owners pay taxes. Taxes should be split between maintenance and repair. We shouldn’t have to pay taxes and then pay SID’s for repairs. They should be part of the budget. If you read Mondays Missoulian, not only is the city (Missoula) going to repair the infrastructure, but they are going to work with the business to keep the inconvenience to two weeks. What an interesting concept! See guys, this is all I was asking. Perhaps it’s just that we don’t speak the same language. Infrastructure supports everyone, not just those of rank and privilege.

POLSON BUSINESS WATCH REBIRTH!

Thanks to Police Chief Chase for reviving the Polson Business Watch. It certainly will help the city augment some of the Police Departments budget. If you run out of stickers Chief, Bruce Gerlach of Sign Pro can get more. CONGRATs to the new Fire Chief John Fairchild.

WOULD YOU DRINK BAD WATER?

Last Monday night at the Polson City Council meeting, Councilman Tom Corse made a public comment that he had taken my advice and the Council was drinking the water from Cougar Ridge / Ridge Water Subdivision during the meeting. After the meeting I asked Councilman Corse if they were drinking the water why would we need a treatment plant; he answered “Because of the Environmental Protection Agency.” Well I don’t often think that federal intervention in our lives is a good thing. I must say I am glad that the EPA is watching out for our health in this case. I’m glad that the high level of manganese can’t be inserted into Polsons drinking water without treatment. Oh by the way, Councilman Corse, as pleased, as I am that you might consider my advice on anything. My advice to you is DON’T DRINK THE MANGANESE WATER!
